About us

My care

Your dog, while in my care, will be treated, loved and groomed as if it were my own. I do not use a muzzle, therefor, aggressive dogs that show a tendency to bite, will be sent home even if grooming is not complete. I am honest and will tell you if your dog was good or misbehaved. Some dogs need extra time to trust someone to touch them all over. My job is not just to groom your dog, but most of all to make sure that your dog enjoys being groomed by me.

Grooming equipment

The tools I use are bought from professional grooming companies. The dryer I use has adjustable speed allowing me to use slow blowing air if your dog is nervous. Even the highest heat setting can never burn your dog.

Removing matts

If your dog is matted he may need to be clipped close to the skin. PLEASE NOTE: this may cause skin irritation. There is a risk of nicks and cuts due to moles, etc. Occasionally when removing matts, skin problems are revealed due to trapped moisture near the dog’s skin. Clipping this may also reveal fungus, bacteria, embedded grass seeds, ticks and even nests of fleas. The after effects of removing matts can include itchiness, skin redness, self-inflicted irritations or abrasions and even failing of hair regrowth.

Should your dog’s hair be clipped very short, sunburn is a real concern and sunblock must be used. I understand that from time to time we don’t have the time to brush our dogs regularly and they get matted. I am here to help you and your dog, but at the same time the dog suffers if each time there are lots of matts that need brushing out or the dog needs to be clipped down.

AS THE OWNER, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDITION OF YOUR DOG’S COAT AND MAY NOT HOLD ME LIABLE IN THE EVENT OF ADVERSE AFFECTS OF MATT REMOVAL

Nail care

Nail clipping will be done at your dog’s appointment if needed. Please note, I do not clip nails if I don’t think they require clipping.

Puppy care

Time, patience and praise is a must! Groom your puppy daily, use a towel to groom your puppy on, then they will know that it is grooming time every time the towel comes out, using a suitable brush. Run your hands over his eyes, muzzle, down the legs and over the feet every time you groom. This will get your puppy ready when he goes for grooming the first time. Puppies are advised to come for baths and grooms from a young age.

PLEASE NOTE: I do not clip puppies under 6 – 8 months of age. I feel that puppies need to come for baths, so they get to know all the sounds, smells, what is required of them/what is going to happen to them when they come for their bath/groom, to get to know me and most of all, that YOU (mommy or daddy) WILL BE BACK TO FETCH THEM!

I am an animal lover and will not cause any stress to your dog and will not do anything to them that makes them feel threatened or stressed. If I feel that your puppy has had enough grooming, you will be contacted to collect your puppy so that the grooming session ends on a good note.
